In 1937, a small group of Cedar Hill residents gathered in the Town Square to have fellowship and reconnect with old friends. As the years passed, more people returned each October for what became known as the Old Settlers’ Reunion. That gathering eventually grew into Country Day on the Hill, but the tradition of coming together on Friday evening before the main event continues today.
The Old Settlers’ Reunion kicks off Country Day weekend with a light supper of beans, cornbread, tea, and dessert for $5, along with Bingo for $5 per card and $1 for each additional card. The evening also includes the crowning of the Country Day King and Queen, continuing a tradition that has been part of Cedar Hill for generations.
