Education Habilitation offers classes that will benefit those who are deaf or hard of hearing, and who do not know sign language or ASL. We believe that it is imperative for them to be able to communicate in both spoken and manual languages.
It is apparent that there are many stigmas that can discourage both parents and their children from learning sign language. For instance, some may fear the loss of fluency in spoken language or even the likelihood of learning to communicate in spoken language. Some may also think that the public display of signing will make them feel like an outcast. However, the mission of Education Habilitation is to cause our students to thrive in both spoken and manual languages. With this class, we aim to help each student embark upon the journey to communicate with confidence.
