Heritage Farmstead Summer Camps

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/29/2022
Summer Camp at the Heritage Farmstead Museum is an unforgettable opportunity for children to get outside, explore nature and connect with history. Open to students entering Kindergarten thru sixth grade, our week-long camps offer outdoor activities with a focus on history and farm life in the heart of Plano. Camp runs from 9am to 1pm Monday thru Friday. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle each day.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Campers will be grouped by age (friend requests accepted), to form small groups that are led by trained camp counselors, under supervision of our camp director and education staff.

Our Pioneer Camps and Creek Camps have been thoughtfully designed to educate and inspire children, as well as build confidence, emphasize teamwork and maximize fun!  Campers will experience all the best as a camper at the Heritage Farmstead Museum–exploring agricultural history, enjoying nature and creek life on our 4.5 acre historical site.

2022 SUMMER CAMP SCHEDULE

Online registration starts Feb 1!  Click on camp week below to register your camper today!

Pioneer Camp focuses on animal care and the exploration of our authentic historic site.  Campers will experience life on the Blackland Prairie as it was at the turn of the twentieth century.  Farm chores, outdoor games, and explorations of our historic farmstead are all part of the Pioneer Camp experience.

Creek Camp encourages campers to explore the natural world around them, with trips to the adjacent Pitman Creek, as well the natural spaces within our 4.5 acre site.  Science experiments, nature art, games, and explorations of the outdoor world are at the heart of Creek Camp.

Camp Tuition is $225 per week, and can be paid online as of Feb 1 (click on camps in bulleted list above). Tuition includes a camper t-shirt and a daily snack.  Registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and camps often fill up.  We will offer a waitlist for interested families.

Upon receipt of payment online, a registration form will be sent via email.  Refunds can be issued upon request, minus a $50 administrative fee, for cancellations made at least two weeks prior to the camp start date.

Is your teen interested in serving as a Camp Counselor for our summer camp programs?  The application form is available here.  Applicants should be self-motivated, positive student leaders entering ninth grade or higher as of Aug 2022.  Serving as a camp counselor is a great way to volunteer and provide a great service to your community!

Do you have questions?  Please reach out to our director of education at michelle@heritagefarmstead.org.
